Let me start of by saying that I am sorry you had to come to this page. Unfortunately, not all computer systems and set-ups are the same, so what might work on one computer might not work on another. Thus the need for this help page. The good news is that the advise below has solved the listening troubles of 99.9% of the folks who have emailed me in the past. the 00.1% it did not work for were trying to listen to DixieBroadcasting with a tin can and some bailing twine. Sadly they are still waiting to hear something besides the roar of their own ear drum! Firefox If you are viewing DixieBroadcasting using FireFox and can't get the "Listen Now" function to work for you. May we suggest the Firefox Plug-in for embedded media. The plug-in is small, downloads quickly, and requires little to no adjustment on your part to work. The plug-in can be downloaded from FireFox at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446 Internet Explorer If you are viewing DixieBroadcasting using Internet Explorer 7 or higher, our player most likely will not play without your permitting Active X to function with your browser. In fact, if you have clicked on our "Listen Now" button you have more than likely been asked to give permission to run Active X controls to listen. While I find no problem with Active X, some folks object to using it. If this is the case for you, I would suggest that you use a direct link to our broadcast: http://peace.str3am.com:6360/listen.pls. Note: Your security settings may be such that when you click on direct stream link you will be asked to give permission for the download of the pls file. You can do this with confidence. A PLS file is nothing more than a type of playlist used for media. Once you have given permission our stream should start playing in your default media player. "I click on the direct stream link above, but it does not work." If this is your situation, Let me offer you yet another couple of options: 1. Windows Media Player - Open Windows Media Player, and paste the following link directly into your player: http://peace.str3am.com:6360 . Pasting in the link is simple. For example select "File" then "Open URL" a dialog box will appear, and you can then paste in your link. 2. Real Player - Open Real Player, and paste the following link direct into it: http://peace.str3am.com:6360/listen.pls . Please notice that the "/listen.pls" portion of the URL is added for Real Player whereas it is not with Windows Media Player. To paste the link directly into Real Player select "File" then "Open." A dialog box will come up and you can then paste in your link. |
